Mindful Monday: Growth (part IV)

This week’s reminder is a tough one for me. My story has chapters of rough patches and unpleasant memories from not-so-wise choices. So the idea of ‘owning and loving’ all of it (including those tough and disappointing spots) feels unnatural to me. It would be so much easier to say ‘I love the high points, and dismiss the lows.’ But that’s not the full picture, and I have come to understand and accept that the hard parts have helped (and will continue to help – I know I’m not done with those yet) shape me into the woman I am today.

Recognition, acceptance, and subsequently, loving ownership, takes awareness, strength, and bravery. I challenge you today to revisit a time in your life that may seem ‘messy’ on paper. It’s not a proud moment, or it’s scary, or it’s frustrating. What did you learn? How did it change you? Journal your thoughts, or just have some quiet time with them, but try to come out of that contemplation with renewed perspective.

Happy week, brave story owners.
