DIY After Sun Spray

Summer tiiiiime, and the livin’s easy…
…Except when you leave the beach looking like Sebastian from The Little Mermaid. (He’s the red crab, in case y’all don’t have small children that make sure you stay up on your random Disney movie crustaceans.)
But really, sunburns. Pretty much nothing redeeming about them. They hurt, you’re red, then they peel, and you itch. It all amounts to a lot of regret. And I know this regret well, because (much to my mom’s dismay), I spent a few of my teenage years in denial of the fact that my skin demands sunscreen, and if I don’t oblige, there are consequences in the form of hurting, redness, peeling, and itching, as mentioned above. {I’m happy to report that I’m much more responsible now, and I slather sunscreen on myself and my kids like nobody’s business.)
But we do live in the sunshine state, and despite my best efforts, there are still those cloudy days that trick me. You know the ones – you never actually see the sun, but somehow it’s back there behind the clouds doing it’s thing anyway, so you end up a little pink and confused about how you got that way? Those tricky days are my inspiration for this post.
If you checked out my post on what essential oils are, you know they’re my jam. DIYs like this one are a big part of the reason why – so let’s get down to it. This after sun spray has been a tricky-sun-day lifesaver of mine more than once. It’s super simple to make, has zero questionable ingredients, and it is the most soothing remedy I have found for skin that’s had a little too much Vitamin D.

Ingredients:
10 drops doTERRA Lavender oil
10 drops doTERRA Melaleuca oil
10 drops doTERRA Peppermint oil
(*The bottle pictured is 2 oz, so I made half of this recipe.)
Each of the oils used in this spray – Lavender, Melaleuca, and Peppermint – have specific properties that make them ideal for soothing irritated skin. Click on each to find out more on why they work, and click here to find out the best way to get them.

Now it’s time to find out how simple this spray is to make:

Step 1: Gather all of the above mentioned ingredients
Step 2: Put them in your glass spray bottle and shake to combine
Step 3: Spray on your sad skin

THAT’S IT.
Now all you have to do is breathe a sigh of relief because you feel so much better!!
